IMPLEMENTING THE NEW ZEALAND CURRICULUM
Leaders and advisers will be able to develop this space as an easy to access online "storehouse" for the resources they will use as they work with school leaders on implementing the New Zealand Curriculum. (See left hand menu.)
The Implementation Project's goals are:
to create an environment that supports change at the school and system levels
to support professional inquiry, exploration and the development of professional practice
to enable sustained curriculum development within schools and across the system.
Over the three years of the project, a range of resources and events will support schools during implementation including:
a series of resource packs, Engaging and Planning, Supporting Professional Practice and Sustaining Development, to be sent to schools during the three-year implementation period.
post-launch workshops for school principals to provide initial support in leading the implementation process within their schools. The key focus of these workshops will be on developing a common understanding of the curriculum and enabling schools and their communities to engage and begin planning.
resources to support the development of key competencies and school curriculum (primary and secondary) to be developed during 2008 to provide consistent advice and guidance to schools.
a group of sector leaders (primary and secondary), from all regions, to facilitate opportunities for principals, boards of trustees, and teacher representatives to come together in 2008 to share and build on experiences in schools.
a national programme of exploratory studies to establish a research and development evidence base to inform schools’ practice.
redesign of the existing curriculum project website to provide a coordinating, referencing site for the different strands of the project.
